Checkify
For businesses

Business verification explained

Checkify confirms that your organisation exists, that a verified person is authorised to act for it, and that you have supplied country-specific evidence for manual review. Business verification is required before a business can become a live Data Issuer.

Business verification is granted at the legal-business level. Site verification remains separate.

Why it matters

Trust before you ask users to trust you

When users approve a Checkify verification request, they need to know who is asking and that the organisation is real. Business verification gives Checkify the evidence to stand behind that trust signal — especially for high-assurance flows such as Data Issuer access.

Verification levels

Four levels of business trust

Checkify reviews applications manually. Evidence requirements may vary by country. An admin approves your business at one of these levels:

Unverified

No meaningful business verification completed. You can still use Checkify for sites, passes, and billing, but you cannot become a Data Issuer.

Basic registered

Checkify has reviewed evidence that the legal business appears to exist (name, country, registry references). This builds user confidence but does not unlock Data Issuer access.

Controlled

The business exists and a verified Checkify user has been linked as authorised to act for it. At Controlled you may apply to become a Data Issuer, but you cannot go live until Controlled Plus.

Controlled Plus

Full review: business existence, authorised person, and supporting control evidence. Controlled Plus is required before Checkify can approve your business as a live Data Issuer.

Who can apply

The applicant must be a verified Checkify user

The person submitting business verification must complete Checkify identity verification first (at least Verified level). This ensures a real verified person is responsible for the request — not an anonymous signup.

Business verification requires a verified Checkify identity. Please complete Checkify identity verification before applying.

How to register

How to apply for business verification

Applications are submitted from your business dashboard (web or Checkify app). Checkify reviews manually and may contact you using the business email you provide.

1

Create or join a business

Register a Checkify business account or join an existing business as an owner or admin.

2

Complete your personal identity verification

Verify your Checkify identity to at least Verified level before you apply on behalf of the business.

3

Submit the application

Provide legal business details, liaison contact, authority explanation, registry or regulator references, and optional related sites. Confirm you are authorised to act for the business.

4

Checkify reviews

We review country-specific evidence and may request more information. When approved, your business verification level and status are updated in your dashboard.

5

Reach Controlled Plus for Data Issuer

If you plan to issue credentials to users, you need Controlled Plus business verification before Checkify can approve live Data Issuer access.

Application status

What the statuses mean

  • Pending review — your application is with Checkify.
  • More information required — we will liaise using your business email.
  • Approved — your approved level applies.
  • Declined — you may submit a new application with updated evidence.
  • Suspended — trust is paused; Data Issuer access is blocked.
  • Revoked — verification removed; you must reapply.
